Barbara Jeane Adams, 84, formerly of Kokomo and Marion, died unexpectedly on October 4, 2016 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East in Lafayette, Indiana.

Barbara was born in Galveston, Indiana on December 14, 1931 to the late Carmen and Charles Conwell. She was married on June 3, 1972 to Kent Leroy Adams, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2016.

She is survived by her four children, Michelle (James) Turner, La Porte, Indiana; Kevin (Belinda) Trimble, Gas City, Indiana; Scott (Kristi) Trimble, West Lafayette, Indiana; and Brian Trimble, Marion, Indiana; six step children, Michael (Kathy Boling) Adams, Louisville, Kentucky; Michelle (Phillip) Johnson, Warsaw, Indiana; Martin (Diane) Adams, Chesterfield, Virginia; Marlon (Diane) Adams, Marisa Armagh and Marie (David) Belanger all of Marion, Indiana; seven grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eighteen step- great grandchildren, and three step great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Nedra Woodroof, Clearwater, Florida and Dorothy Hoover, Kokomo, Indiana; and brother, Gary (Jeph) Conwell, Kokomo, Indiana.

In her youth Barbara was active for many years in 4-H. She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1950, where she was active in the National Honor Society, and from the St. Joseph Hospital Medical Technology program in 1962. She worked as a medical technologist for over 30 years at multiple hospitals, including St. Joseph’s Hospital, Kokomo, Indiana; Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana and Lee County Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. While married she enjoyed traveling with her husband. They often traveled on weekends to horse shows where her husband competed in contest horse shows, or took short trips in their small aircraft piloted by her husband. In 1988 Barbara and her husband retired to Matlacha Isles, Cape Coral, Florida where they enjoyed the pleasures of a leisurely life on Florida’s gulf coast in addition to their continued travels, which then included annual trips to visit children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., with the funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Barbara will be buried at Gardens of Memory, 11201 S. Marion Rd, Marion, Indiana.
